1139 Pope Innocent II: exempt from the obedience of local laws; their only authority was the Pope.
Knights Templar in Bohemia 1232-1312;
1307 king Philip IV of France was in debt to the order and pressured Pope Clement to have many of the order’s members in France arrested, tortured into giving false confessions, and burned at the stake. (spit on the cross, deny christ, indecent kissing, worshiped idols, encouraged homosexual practices—similar to Jews, heretics, and accused witches)–**No evidence; Suspected of worshiping Baphomet-created for the sole purpose of persecution of Templars.
Disbanded 1312, but never really disappeared. Portugal refused to persecute. They changed their name to the Order of Christ; Supreme Order of the Holy See (The Templar’s website says they became secular and secret, privately resurfaced in 1705); one of the founding members’ nephew wrote persuasively about them and led to official church endorsement
House of Luxembourg 1308-1437 ruled Bohemia
Luxembourg- Seat of several EU institutions; Global financial center
Order of the Dragon- Sigismund in 1408; selected aristocracy and monarchs- fashioned after military orders of the crusades (Templars, etc.) legend of St. George defeat of a dragon– ouroboros and red cross

Osiris= Apollo (civilizing, music, art), Hades (underworld), Dionysos (beer & wine, fertility, earth)
Cybele and Attis worship:
Attis= Green Man, a sacred tree bearing an image of the god
Priests were eunuchs- castrated themselves in honor of Cybele; taurobolium- devotee stood in a pit, bull sacrificed above head on perforated platform, devotee drenched in blood.
Spring Equinox public rites- March 15 procession of reed bearers; a week later pine tree (Attis) bound with clothes like a mummy adorned with violet and carried to the temple, laid to rest, day of mourning then the day of blood devotees would lash themselves and draw blood–splatter on the pine tree, tree taken to a crypt, at dawn a young mand (supposed to be Attis) found stretched out before the statue of the goddess, day of rejoicing.
Harpokrates= son of Isis and Serapis (Horus)- holding finger over lips; Greeks interpreted as initiates not revealing their secrets, actually Egyptian hieroglyph for a child.
Dionysos= knowledge of agriculture and arts→ The Bacchae/Bucchantes; the most popular mystery religion of the Roman Empire; ate raw flesh in imitation of the Titans devouring Zagreus and as a kind of communion with the god. Dionysos= the mind of this world, the “mundane intellect”, the world is sustained by his knowledge; initiation rites- huge bearded mask wreathed with vines or ivy leaves; frenzied, drunken orgies, playing instruments, sacrificing animals and drinking their blood mixed with wine; Evolved into the Orphic mysteries- worshiped Orpheus (a musician who was said to establish Dionysos mysteries)- ascetic lifestyle; believed humans were divine and created from ashes of the Titans who murdered Dionysos, but had to atone for the sins of the Titans- rituals that actually or symbolically dismembered a person representing Dionysos– Rebirth/Resurrection
